Winchester's match against Weston Super Mare originally scheduled for postponed due to adverse weather conditions was rearranged for Tuesday 8pm kick off and represented Winchester's first ever visit to Weston Super Mare's Winterstoke Road for a league fixture.
The result was a 3-1 win for the home team who lead the table and are keen to return to the National League South which they left after 15 years of membership in 2019, and with Bracknell who has moved within touching distance of them losing they must be favoured to do so.
For Winchester it was always going to be a tall order to get a result against the league leaders in a long distance away midweek trip, but with Hartley Wintney beating Harrow Borough they only need five points fro their last five games, probably four in view of their currently superior goal difference to put the current bottom three out of their reach, and they still have a seven point advantage over fourth from bottom North Leigh who now have to play their final league match of the season at home to Truro City, less than 48 hours after visiting Plymouth Parkway for a midweek fixture. Importantly though Winchester's destiny remains very much in their own hands and they have shown great spirit during the course of the season.
Winchester made one change to the starting line-up from their last league game with Ryan Pryce replacing Charlie Philpott, while on the substitutes bench Henry Brooks replaced Callum Chugg.

Winchester had an attack of their own six minutes later involving Warren Bentley and Jack Torniainen, but Weston Super Mare took the lead in the 12th minute when Bastin converts a cross from Reuben Reid at the back post.
Ryan Pryce then saves a Loyd Humphries free kick, but midway through the first half Weston scored their second when Scott Laird set up Jacob Jagger-Cane to score.
Reuben Reid had an off target effort for the home team, but there was not very much goalmouth action during the remainder of the first half s Winchester trailed 2-0 at the interval.
