inchester suffered a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Harrow Borough and although they have still won as many league games as they have lost it was the third time this season they had lost a league game to a team below them in the table.
Harrow Borough who are in their 45th successive season in the Premier Division of either the Southern League or Isthmian League were reprieved from relegation last season following following the resignation of Metropolitan Police. At the end of last season they appointed former Plymouth Argyle midfielder Jordan Berry ass manager replacing long term incumbent Steve Baker
Harrow made a slow start to the season with one point from their first 5 league games and 17 goals conceded in these games, but they are now unbeaten in four games and are outside the relegation zone.
Winchester made two changes to the starting line-up from the previous week with captain Jamie Barron suspended following his sending off at Hanwell and Danny King foe whom we send our best wishes to getting married. In their places came Josh Bertie and Dan Jones.
Slippery conditions made good football difficult and one stage there was doubt about whether the match would start and finish. In the fourth minute Winchester goalkeeper Ryan Pryce in trying to retrieve the ball bought down a Harrow player and Reece Mitchell converted the resulting penalty. During g the first half Winchester had a lot of possession, but Harrow defended well with their centre backs making important interceptions and they also had the pace up front to catch Winchester on the break. Apart from saves from Dan Jones and Josh McCormick Tyler Tobin in the Harrow goal was not tested much in the game's first period. In fact Harrow could easily have extended their l lead, but Pryce saved Mitchell's second spot kick of the afternoon.
Winchester though made a poor start to the second half conceding the second goal and having Pip Nolan sent off when he was deemed to be last man when he stopped a Harrow breakaway in the first 15 minutes of the game's second period. Prior to these moments Ollie Balmer had an off target effort for Winchester,
Winchester had bought on Trevor Caborn returning from injury on to replace I K Hill and Warren Bentley to replace Josh McCormick, as they faced an uphill task to get back in the game being two
goals and a man down
However even with 10 men Winchester began to play with more urgency. Mark Jamison has a goal disallowed for offside,Tommy Wright had an effort deflected for a corner and Caborn and Bertie had off target efforts and although Harrow's pace up front made Winchester vulnerable on the break especially with the visitors having the extra man.Winchester were trying to make up for their disappointing showing in the earlier stages of the game.
Warren Bentley forced a good save from Tobin shortly before Conor Lynch who as substitute had replaced Simba Mlambo converted a cross from Ollie Balmer in the fifth minute of added on time, but it was too late for Winchester to salvage anything from the game.
Following Winchester's midweek trip to Merthyr they do not have a game on Saturday, but are at home to Walton and Hersham on the following Tuesday,
